Intermiel, a bee farm to discover!
Since 1976, Intermiel has been involved in the agricultural and touristic industry in the Laurentian region. Intermiel is considered to be a leader and one of the greatest ambassador in the apiarian industry.
A bit of history...
Honey has been around for a very long time. In Ancient Egypt, it was appreciated for its softening and regenerative properties. It is said that Cleopatra always took her bath with milk and honey. Also, Roman women bathed their face in a milk and honey mix used as a skin care. As well, man drank mead (honey wine), much before grape wine.

At Intermiel, you will encounter this legacy of the past...Intermiel was founded in 1976 by Christian and Viviane Macle. Christian is pursuing the family tradition. In France, at the age of 5 years old, he followed his grandfather in the hives and helped him through the different stages of the apiarist work. At the age of fourteen, he started making his own honey and on his bicycle, he went to the village public market in the next town to sell his honey.

Today
What a difference, with his business today! From 2 employees, Intermiel is now a real enterprise with 35 employees. The business is opened 7 days a week. Within this enterprise, an oenologist, a consulting chemist, teachers, a sales representative as well as customer service representatives and specialized tour guides. Intermiel follows a constant evolution and consistently diversifies and perfects its production. From the very first day, Intermiel has developed an educational vocation. Intermiel attracts many tourists, social and educational groups.
Intermiel's main production consists of honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, propolis and beeswax. Many other by-products are also available within the enterprise located in Mirabel : mead (honey wine) which is distributed at the Societe des alcools du Québec, all the Apiflore skin care products and maple products.
One of the major concerns of the Intermiel staff is to make everyone sensitive to the bee world. Therefore, within our educational program, we offer many guided tours. We are pleased to mention that in 2004, 20,000 children from kindergarten to high school came to visit us. In order to complete its educational program, Intermiel collaborates in training sessions in beekeeping, marketing and finance with the France-Quebec agreements and with the College Lionel-Groulx.
Besides the manufacturing and sales of the above-mentioned products, Intermiel operates a well-established distribution network on a regional, national and international level.
